Protect your Liver, bid goodbye to Hepatitis

Hepatitis is a disease which has resulted in widespread concern among the general public. It happens due to inflammation of liver and the Hepatitis virus is the chief cause of the disease. Hepatitis virus are of 5 types and they are named accordingly as Hepatitis A, B, C, D and E. Hepatitis B and C result in causing long term or chronic diseases in people and can lead to liver cancer also. The main reason of Hepatitis A and E are contaminated food and water and Hepatitis B, C and D occurs due to contact with infected body fluids. Hepatitis A, B and D can be prevented by immunization process but others are generally chronic but Hepatitis as a whole can be prevented by maintaining a balanced diet with perfect sanitation conditions.

Causes and Symptoms

Hepatitis is mainly caused due to viral attack on the liver which leads to inflammation of your liver. Hepatitis A and E are more common in developing and under developed countries due to lack of proper sanitation and exposure to contaminated food and water. Both these viruses behave similarly and are self limiting and don’t show their effect for a long time. Hepatitis B, C and D take place due to infected blood and body fluids. Hepatitis D take place in unison with Hepatitis B and these diseases are chronic and affect a lot on the human body.

Hepatitis results in symptoms like fatigue, pale stool, dark urine, yellow skin and eyes along with loss in appetite. Sometimes a unique situation may arise in which the body starts treating the liver as harmful and starts attacking due to presence of Auto-immune system which indeed leads to inflammation of liver.

Protecting the Liver

The liver which is present in the upper right area of the abdomen plays an important role in the process of digestion. It produces the bile juice, filters the toxins from your body, synthesis of clotting factors and storing glycogen. A mere inflammation of the liver can cause a lot of trouble for a person. So it is essential for everyone to be safe from Hepatitis.

Avoiding alcohol and certain drugs can work wonders as consumption of alcohol damages the liver cells resulting in inflammation. Eating healthy along with a balanced diet will be very helpful for the proper function of your body. Hepatitis A occurs due to contaminated food and water. You can always go for vaccination of Hepatitis A and B if you are travelling to a country where people are vulnerable to Hepatitis. Hepatitis B and C can take place due to exposure to contaminated body fluids and transfusion of infected blood. This can be avoided by not sharing personal stuffs like toothbrushes, utensils etc.  Eating a lot of fibre and plant based diet can help in maintaining the liver. Drinking coffee also helps in protecting the liver from Hepatitis.

Hepatitis A can be cured by bed rest but it is better to prevent it by vaccination. Hepatitis B may be chronic but it can be treated by anti viral medication. But it is essential to be safe by taking necessary precautions for protecting the liver.

Protecting the liver is very important as any attack on the liver can have harmful consequences. So, it is better to follow certain precautionary measures as these will help in preventing Hepatitis as bidding adieu to Hepatitis is your main goal.

WHAT WE ALL NEED TO KNOW ABOUT OUR BLOOD TYPE

Along with lifestyle and nutrition, the blood type also plays a major role in the body of the person. Blood is highly essential to the body and plays an important role in transporting oxygen from the lungs to the tissues and carbon-di-oxide from the tissues back to the lungs. There are 4 blood groups namely A, B, AB and O. Each individual is born with a different blood type. It is very important for the person to know his/her own blood type. Knowing the characteristics of your blood helps in improving your health.
Did you know that your blood type plays an important role in your health and body? If no, below mentioned are a few points we all need to know about each of our blood types. Blood types play a role in the following areas.

DIET AND NUTRITION

Blood type plays a major role in nutrition and diet. It is very important for digestion and weight loss. People should consume food based on their own blood type which helps in improving the overall health of the individual. For e.g., people with blood type A are recommended to have more of vegetables, people with blood type B are asked to have red meat over chicken, people with blood type AB are recommended to have more of sea foods and lean meat and people with blood type O are recommended to consume foods rich in protein.

ONE’S PERSONALITY

Did you know that blood type could affect a person’s personality? People with blood group A are supposed to be peaceful, artistic and trustworthy. People with blood group B are said to be dedicated, goal-oriented, strong and independent. People with blood group AB are usually shy, reliable, responsible and like taking care of others. People with blood type O are considered as extraverts, creative, social and confident.

ABDOMEN

Blood type also plays an important role in the abdomen. People with blood group A digest carbohydrates easily when compared to the other blood types and therefore, people with this blood type rarely have fat around their belly. On the other hand, people with blood group O find difficulty in digestion and are more prone to develop belly fat.

DISEASES

It is very important to know the characteristics of one’s blood type. Due to the different formations of antigens on the surface of the blood cells, every blood type is different. Each blood group is resistant to a type of disease and susceptible to another. Therefore, knowing the characteristics of one’s blood type is essential in order to prevent specific diseases.

STRESS LEVELS

Apart from personality and nutrition, blood type also plays an important role during stress. Blood type influences a person’s tolerance levels during stressful conditions. A person with blood group A produce more amount of cortisol-stress hormone. A person with blood group O has higher chances of getting furious quickly. These people may possess an increased level of adrenaline and may require more time to recover from stressful conditions.

MARRIAGE

Apart from verifying your partner’s background, it is very important to know his/hers blood type. Certain blood types should not be mixed in case you plan for an offspring. For e.g., couples with blood group A and B should not be mixed. Also, the property of blood called the RH factor should not be mixed because if the mother has RH- and the baby in the womb possesses RH+ blood, the RH- of the mother may develop antibodies which may attack the baby. Therefore it is important to know the blood group of your partner to be aware of such conditions.

PREGNANCY

Blood type also affects pregnancy. It has been documented that women with a particular blood type have an increased chance of getting pregnant when compared to other women with different blood groups. A study shows that women with blood type AB produce less follicle-stimulating hormone which helps in conceiving with ease.

EXERCISE

Stress is our biggest enemy. People with blood type A are more prone to stress and therefore they need to perform exercises to keep calm such as yoga, and meditation. On the other hand, people with blood type B like to indulge in challenging activities for their body and spirit and therefore to balance these two, they tend to perform activities like tennis, martial arts, trekking etc.

EMERGENCY PURPOSE

We all know the importance and demand for blood during an emergency. It is highly recommended for people to carry information such as full name, address, blood type, phone number, with you at all times. Considering the fact that you can accept blood only from compatible donors, this basic information is very important in crucial moments like an accident or injury. Carry this information with you as you may require blood transfusion.

Getting to know these interesting facts about blood types will be helpful for you to be aware and alert at all times.

How to improve your sleep naturally

A good night’s rest is something we all crave, but given the flawed lifestyles and many pressures on people, it can be difficult to achieve. Before you resort to medications to ensure sleep, here are some things to try to boost your sleep cycle naturally.

Go to bed at the same time each night

If your body gets accustomed to rest at the same time every night, it starts to build a rhythm. Then, you will find it easier to fall asleep each night. You don’t have to go to bed at 10 pm or midnight either. Just understand how your body works, what time it feels the most awake, and when it feels the need for rest, and create your own sleep schedule.

Manage exposure to light

The body relies on external cues such as light to determine when to rest. Due to exposure to artificial light in the evening, the body's responses are often confused. Therefore, make it a point to spend time in the sunlight every day. You can sit or exercise outdoors just a few minutes of the day to let the body adjust to the cycle of night and day. At night, or whenever you are planning to sleep, use heavy drapes to block all light. Some people might feel easier with a night lamp, but even these can be detrimental for sleep for many people.

Make your bedroom comfortable

It is important that your body feel comfortable before it is able to rest. This would mean keep it at the right temperatures. During warm weather, let the air conditioner cool the room to the right temperature or you can take a cold shower before getting into bed. During winters, you would want to use layers on the bed for added warmth and if possible, a hot shower before bedtime.

Get checked for medical conditions

Poor health can also cause sleeplessness as the body is uncomfortable through the night. You can find good natural remedies to treat many of these problems. Probiotic foods can treat intestinal discomfort, and you might need to work on ways to reduce stress, if anxieties are keeping you awake all night.

Avoid these foods

Some foods can cause you to stay wide awake. Caffeine is well known for the way it can help you work through a difficult night. However, if you drink tea or coffee before bedtime, it can be harder for you to get to sleep. Some people find it difficult to sleep if they have processed foods or sugary foods in high quantities. Instead, you would want to eat whole grains, vegetables, fruits, and foods that lack grease or sugar, to ensure best sleep. Some people may be allergic to certain foods, and these can interfere with their sleep pattern.

Avoid TV before bedtime

Some people turn on the TV hoping it will lull them to sleep eventually. This can be a big mistake as the noise and visuals can keep you wide awake through the night. You might try reading a book or listening to soothing music before bedtime so that you can sleep better.
